Actions Rex Can Take — AI-Powered Operations

7 min read Beginner For Owner, Manager, Staff Updated 1 day ago
Quick Answer
Rex can check in bookings, mark returns, create pricing rules, schedule maintenance, add charges, manage holds, handle waivers, draft emails, and generate reports — always with a preview and your confirmation before executing.

Actions Rex Can Take

Rex isn't just a Q&A bot — it's an operational copilot that can take real actions on your bookings, pricing, fleet, and customers. Every action follows a simple rule: Rex shows you what it will do, and you confirm before it happens.

The Preview-Then-Confirm Flow

Every write action follows this pattern:

  1. You ask — Check in the Garcia family
  2. Rex finds the booking — Shows you the details: customer name, unit, time, any balance due
  3. Rex asks for confirmation — Want me to go ahead?
  4. You confirm — Say yes, go ahead, or do it
  5. Rex executes — Makes the change and tells you what happened and what to do next

If you say no or cancel at step 4, Rex stops and no changes are made.

Booking Operations

Check In Customers

Turn reserved bookings into active rentals. Rex handles balance collection too.

How to ask:

  • Check in the Johnson family
  • Check in the 10am pontoon booking
  • Check in booking abc123

What Rex shows in the preview:

  • Customer name and contact info
  • Unit and rental times
  • Balance due (if any)
  • Payment options: card on file, manual (cash, POS, check), or skip

Example:

You: Check in the Johnson family

Rex: Found Booking #abc123 — Sarah Johnson
     Unit: 24ft Bennington Pontoon
     Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm today
Balance due: $150.00 (deposit was $150 of $300 total)

How would you like to handle the balance?
     • Card on file (Visa ending 4242)
     • Manual payment (cash, POS, etc.)
     • Skip for now

You: Card on file

Rex: ✓ Checked in! Sarah Johnson is now rented on the
24ft Bennington Pontoon. Balance of $150 charged
     to Visa ending 4242.

  • Original rental window
  • Whether it's overdue (and by how long)
  • Outstanding balance (if any)
  • Link to the booking page for the inspection report

Add Post-Rental Charges

Add extra charges, damage fees, or fuel charges to a booking.

How to ask:

  • Add $25 fuel charge to the Johnson booking
  • Add $200 damage charge to the jet ski rental
  • Add extra charges of $50 for late return to the Smith booking

What Rex shows:
