Sensible Weather Integration
Sensible Weather lets you offer weather guarantee insurance at checkout. Customers pay a small fee, and if weather conditions impact their rental, they receive automatic compensation—no claims process needed.
What You'll Need
Before starting, make sure you have:
- Sensible Weather partner account — Contact Sensible Weather to become a partner

Credentials provided by Sensible Weather:
- Client ID
- Client Secret
- Product ID
- Location coordinates — Your rental location(s) must have lat/long set
Setup Steps
Step 1: Get Your Credentials
Contact Sensible Weather to set up a partner account. They'll provide:
- Client ID — Your account identifier
- Client Secret — Keep this secure
- Product ID — The weather product configured for your business
Step 2: Connect to RecSystems
- In RecSystems, go to Account → Account Info → Integrations
- Click Sensible Weather
- Enter your credentials:
- Client ID
- Client Secret
- Product ID
- Select environment: Sandbox (testing) or Production (live)
- Click Save
Step 3: Test Connection
- Click Test Connection
- Verify credentials are valid
- Fix any errors before proceeding
Step 4: Enable at Checkout
- Toggle Show in Checkout to ON
- Weather protection will appear during customer checkout
- Save your settings
How It Works
At Checkout
- Customer selects rental dates and items
- RecSystems requests a quote from Sensible Weather
- Quote shows:
- Protection price (e.g., $15)
- What's covered (plain language terms)
- Customer chooses to add or skip protection
After Purchase
- If customer adds protection, it's included in their total
- After payment, RecSystems confirms the guarantee with Sensible Weather
- Customer receives confirmation with guarantee details
If Weather Triggers
- Sensible Weather monitors weather conditions
- If trigger conditions are met (e.g., rain > threshold)
- Customer receives automatic compensation via Sensible Weather
- No action required from you or the customer
What Customers See
Checkout Option
During checkout, customers see:

compensation up to $150.
What's covered: Rain over 0.1 inches, winds over 20 mph,
or temperatures below 50°F.

After booking with protection:

Your rental on July 15 is protected. If weather conditions trigger, you'll receive automatic compensation from Sensible Weather.
Location Requirements
Weather protection requires location coordinates to work:
Setting Up Locations
- Go to Account → Locations
- Edit each location
- Ensure Address is complete
- Verify Latitude and Longitude are set
RecSystems uses location coordinates to get accurate weather quotes.
Multiple Locations
If you have multiple locations:
- Each rental uses its pickup location
- Quotes are specific to that location's weather forecast
- Pricing may vary by location

How Pricing Works

Who Pays What
- Customer pays: Weather protection fee at checkout
- You pay: Nothing (Sensible Weather handles compensation)
- You may earn: Commission on protection purchases (depends on your agreement)

Integration Reports
View weather protection performance:
- Go to Bookings → Reports in the navbar, then select Integrations
- Select Sensible Weather
- See:
- Total quotes generated
- Protection add rate (% who select it)
- Revenue from protection
- Triggered guarantees

Troubleshooting
Quote Not Showing

- Rental dates are within supported range
Connection Failed
Check:
- Client ID and Secret are correct
- Environment matches (sandbox vs. production)
- Sensible Weather account is active
