## Understanding Add-ons
Add-ons are extra items or services customers can purchase with their rental:
- Safety equipment (life jackets, helmets)
- Convenience items (coolers, tubes)
- Services (delivery, setup)
- Insurance options
- Fuel packages
## Creating an Add-on
### Step 1: Navigate to Add-ons
1. Go to **Dashboard → Add-ons**
2. Click **New Add-on** button
### Step 2: Basic Information
**Required Fields:**
- **Name** - Clear, descriptive name
- **Price** - Cost in dollars
- **Description** - What's included
**Example:**
```
Name: Premium Life Jacket
Price: $15.00
Description: Coast Guard approved Type III PFD with whistle
```
### Step 3: Configure Billing
**Billing Frequency:**
- **One Time** - Charged once per booking
- **Per Day** - Charged for each rental day
**When to Charge:**
- **At Booking** - Included in initial payment
- **At Check-in** - Collected when customer arrives
- **At Checkout** - Added when returning
### Step 4: Set Quantity Rules
**Usage Quantity Mode:**
**Fixed Quantity**
- Customer gets exactly 1
- No selection needed
- Good for: Parking passes, cleaning fees
**User Selectable**
- Customer chooses how many
- Set min/max limits
- Good for: Life jackets, tubes
**Tied to Booking Unit**
- Quantity matches rental quantity
- Automatic calculation
- Good for: Per-unit insurance, fuel
### Step 5: Required vs Optional
**Required Add-ons:**
- Automatically added to bookings
- Customer cannot remove
- Price included in total
- Use for: Mandatory fees, required equipment
**Optional Add-ons:**
- Customer chooses to add
- Can be removed
- Use for: Extras, upgrades
### Step 6: Add Photos (Optional)
Add-ons can have images:
1. Click **Add Image** or drag photo
2. Shows during booking process
3. Helps customers understand offering
4. Recommended: 800x600px minimum
## Assigning to Fleets
### Link Add-ons to Equipment
Add-ons must be assigned to fleets:
1. Edit the add-on
2. Find **Fleet Assignments** section
3. Check fleets that offer this add-on
4. Save changes
**Example:** Life jackets for water sports
- ✓ Jet Skis
- ✓ Boats
- ✗ ATVs
### Fleet-Specific Considerations
Different fleets may need different add-ons:
